The Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) is a single window delivery, dissemination and supporting system for various innovations and farm‑worthy techniques, technical advice, diagnostic services, and input supply. It aims to create a strong linkage between research and extension in the pursuit of excellence in agriculture.
The building of ATIC is located near the main entrance of the administrative building of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani. At Parbhani, the RAEEC and ATIC function together in one office.
The Government of Maharashtra, Department of Agriculture launched the T & V System on 1st April 1981 with the establishment of four Extension Agronomists under the Directorate of Extension Education at VNMKV, Parbhani. Extension Agronomists conduct monthly workshops, diagnostic field visits, and innovative extension activities.
ATIC programmes are implemented under the overall guidance of the Director of Extension Education. The centre is supervised by the ATIC Manager (Extension Agronomist) with four Subject Matter Specialists (Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Home Science). Services of Soil Science, Animal Husbandry and Food Technology are also made available as needed.
Seed, seedlings, implements, processed food products, biofertilizers and biopesticides are sold through ATIC to the needy end users. Regular extension and advisory services are provided to visiting farmers.
Large numbers of farmers visit ATIC to benefit from advisory services. From April 2000 to March 2022, a total of 1,06,029 farmers visited ATIC Parbhani and sought the advice of scientists.
Diagnostic services are provided for infested/infected plant materials, soil samples and water samples. Farmers also receive current crop‑related messages through WhatsApp.
Telephone Helpline number 02452-229000 started on 7th October 2000. Technical officers are available every day during office hours to answer farmers’ queries.
From October 2000 to March 2022, about 35,981 farmers were benefitted through this service. If a query cannot be resolved at ATIC level, the farmer is provided the mobile number of the concerned specialist.
A permanent museum is established in the central hall of ATIC. Seeds, charts, biomix, biofertilizers and laminations of different varieties and production technologies developed by the University are displayed.
Visitors regularly take benefit of this exhibition.
Need‑based trainings are organized by ATIC for farmers, officers of the Department of Agriculture, NGOs, input dealers and other land use departments. The hall can accommodate about 40 participants.
